12 Dec 2011

Last week before the Christmas Holidays...4 days to go...I'm looking forward to the break...the kids are coming over from Lincoln for Christmas and we're all going down to Suzie and Marks for Boxing day...the weather down here has not been too bad..but up North they've been having terrible storms with power outages...we've got most things organised for the break...having a quiet New Year this year..staying in, having a quiet drink over the bells, watching Princess Street on tv and generally chilling out...maybe some first-footers will knock on the door, but we're not holding our breath..they don't first-foot down here..we've been out and about for the last few years so maybe we're getting older and can't be bothered..

24 October 2011

We've had a couple of good weekends recently..we had a break at Potter's near Lowestoft...it was excellent and didn't cost us anything, except our drink...we had dinner, bed and breakfast, entertainment, which was excellent..and they didn't try the hard-sell to get us to come back..then, last Friday, we were attending Becci and Michale Page's wedding at Dunston Hall, near Norwich...Becci is the daughter of our good friends, Steve and Karan Darrall...that was an excellent day and our overnight stay at Dunston Hall was excellent...I'm back at the darts on a Monday evening again, and we're doing not too badly..I'm improving after not touching a dart for 18 months..the weather is great for the time of year...just had to put the heating on a couple of times in the last week...we were out on Sunday morning with the North Walsham in Bloom volunteers taking down this years hanging baskets around the town centre...and Liz is away just now re-planting the tubs on the North Walsham by-pass...all good fun...

14th September 2011

That's the birthdays past now...big birthdays..we're officially old people...it feels sad and depresses me a bit...we had a meal on Sunday 11th, and had some family round..it was good..we're starting to feel the year moving by..it's cooler in the mornings and I'll have to get my gloves out for my crossing duties...

27 July 2011

School holidays are now upon us..I'm not back at work until the 7th September...what to do..on Monday we went to Wells-next-the-sea, had a picnic, a walk-about and came home..left the house just after 9 am, got back around 4 pm...and it didn't cost a penny...that's the joys of the bus-pass, and we took a picnic along as well...the weather wasn't too bad. We're planning a similar day out, on Sunday, at Holt Country Park..hopefully the sun will come out. It gets us out in the fresh air and we get exercise walking around the woods...

June 11th 2011

here we are again..got up early to do a course about the new information office in the North Walsham Council Offices...it was postponed, due to the trainer being unable to turn up..it's not a great day, weatherwise..a bit on the cool side...threatening showers...I'm back to work, now that the school's back, but it's only 6 weeks until the summer holidays are upon us..then that's me until September...don't know what I'll do for the holidays..we're on the Town Council, so that'll give us something to do..we're off to Suzie and Mark's next week for a BBQ, Donnie, Mags and Andy are coming through to us on the Saturday, then we'll all go to Suzie's on Sunday..Liz has got and infection in her eye..she got some stuff from the chemist..no doc's surgery open on Saturdays...didn't win the Lottery last night, so it's rolled over and increased to £67 million for Tuesday..we had a visit from one of my old RAF mates on Thursday..Andy Mackay, we hadn't seen him since the 90's..so it was a bolt from the blue..he just turned up at the Bluebell and asked where we lived..

Sunday, 20 March 2011

21st March 2011

It's Sunday again...watched a lot of footie today...Liverpool won against Sunderland..Rangers were lucky against Celtic in the League Cup in Scotland and Chelsea beat Manchester City....yesterday Scotland beat Italy in the 6 Nations rugby and so saved themselves from getting the wooden spoon.. we didn't do any canvassing this week in our ward because we are awaiting the next delivery of leaflets...but Liz did some canvassing in an adjacent ward and had a great response..apparently no-one is planning to vote LibDem...too ashamed, they say...but you can't believe everything people tell you..but still it's quite encouraging...it's been not too bad, weather-wise...almost Spring-like...the clocks go forward next Sunday...so Summer will soon be on us..

1st March 2011

we're now getting underway for the forthcoming local elections...Liz and me are both standing for Town and District...we have been getting fed-up with people ringing Liz up for her to try and help them get things done, and Liz having to apologise that she hasn't been on the council for 8 years...and the people don't seem to know who their local councillor is...so, we're hoping to raise the profile of the people's representatives in the area and try to do something for the town...it's in a bit of a state at the moment... we've been leafleting around our 'ward'...if the weather stays half-decent, we'll be able to do some more, and maybe do some canvassing..we've never been afraid to speak to people...

21 January 2011

here we are at the week-end again...we haven't got a lot planned..Hearts versus Rangers are on the tv on Saturday...so, I've got to watch that..with my Hearts shirt on..
the weather, apparently, is not going to be great, so, no walking in the countryside...going to the shop for the necessities...

19 Jan 2011

now, we're into 2011..it's been a bad start to the year...one of our best friends up North, Citizen, lost his mum just before Christmas...our daughter's father-in-law, Harry, passed away on the 29th of December,..my auntie, Tootsie, from Ardersier, passed away on the weekend of the 8th January..my brother, Sandy, nearly died with a bad bout of the flu'..and my sister-in-law, Pat's , mum was rushed to Edinburgh with a severe case of blood infection, and is still in a bad way...hopefully it'll get better now that the light nights are starting to appear...
The coalition government are continuing to dismantle all the things we've grown accustomed to over the years..trying to privatise the NHS...getting rid of all the things local councils do...trying to get everything for nothing...
